Good health is on everyone’s mind, now more than ever. Many areas of the printing and packaging industries are heavily regulated to protect the consumer. The requirements around food packaging are some of the strictest around and aim to avoid chemical, biological, physical and allergy risks. Join this drupa session with Mondi’s food safety experts to learn about the key considerations when printing and converting packaging materials used for food. We will examine the materials used in packaging production,especially paper and ink, and discuss processes that must be observed when producing food packaging. This session aims to give you a better understanding of the best materials to use for food contact packaging, which measures are needed and what certifications are required.

Stephanie Kienapfel leads the professional print team at Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper. With 20 years experience at Mondi she has built up a vast experience in paper and printing technology. Stephanie loves creating exceptional tools playing with special finishes and accompany a project from the idea to the finalised printed product.

Martin Messner studied Technical Chemistry – Chemical Engineering at Graz University of Technology. After his PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry, Micro- and Radiochemistry (Graz University of Technology) in 1996, he started to work in the paper industry (R&D, production, project management). Martin has been working for Mondi since 2004 and has been Head of the Mondi Group Food Safety Laboratory since 2010. Besides the Mondi Group Food Safety Laboratory Martin has been appointed as an expert in different national and European working groups.

Dr. Tilo Herrmann is the Head of the Technical Customer Service at Mondi Neusiedler. After studying at the Technical Uinversity of Dresden he specialized in Paper Making. After working for different companies worldwide Tilo joined Mondi in 2018.
